1. Paper carrier tape (punched type)
Features: Low cost, stable anti-static, dust-free, easy to recycle, weak moisture resistance, chamber depth ≤ 1mm
Applicable: Mainly 8mm narrowband, passive components such as 0201/0402 surface mount resistors, MLCC capacitors, small diodes, and micro inductors; Mass production of basic components for consumer power supplies, small appliances, and remote controls.
2. Plastic embossed carrier tape (industry mainstream, PS/PC/PET three major substrates)
(1) PS (polystyrene) carrier tape
Temperature resistance of 80-90 ℃, highest cost-effectiveness, good shallow cavity forming, brittle, anti-static and easy to coat
Application: SOT-23 transistor, SOP small IC, SMD LED, small-sized inductor; Components commonly used in mobile phones, digital devices, and power banks.
(2) PC (polycarbonate) carrier tape
High transparency, high strength, temperature resistance of 120-130 ℃, capable of deep cavity>10mm, excellent bending resistance
Applications: connectors, shielding covers, relays, large volume inductors, hardware spring clips, car connectors; Thick and large components for automotive electronics and industrial control boards.
(3) APET/PET carrier tape
Good dimensional stability, permanent anti-static, thin cavity, low shrinkage rate, and moderate price
Application: Ultra thin chips, crystal oscillators, precision sensors, FPC small accessories; Camera module, smart wearables, medical electronics.
(4) PI Polyimide Carrier Tape (Special)
Ultra high temperature resistance of 200 ℃+, expensive price
Applications: Military chips, high-temperature power devices, vehicle power ICs, aerospace electronics small batch packaging.
2、 Classified by molding process
1. Embossed carrier tape (vacuum forming/mold embossing, plastic specific)
The depth and shape of the cavity can be customized, and large/irregular components are preferred
Scenario: IC, connector, shielding shell, LED beads, special-shaped hardware terminals (12~88mm full width).
2. Stamping carrier tape (punched through/semi transparent, paper tape+thin PE)
Fixed cavity, limited depth, only thin small parts
Scenario: Chip resistor capacitor, micro diode, all series with 8mm standard narrowband.
3、 Classified by anti-static level (mandatory differentiation for precision components)
Insulation type (>10 ¹¹Ω): no anti-static, ordinary resistance and capacitance, low-cost plug-in small parts, non sensitive components
Dissipative anti-static (10 ⁶~10 ¹⁰ Ω, most commonly used): chips, LEDs, MOSFETs, crystal oscillators, consumer/car universal models
Conductive type (10 ³~10 ⁵ Ω): ultra-high precision IC, BGA, power devices, military/automotive grade chips, produced in a strong electrostatic environment
